Best dressed stall!

I had an excellent day at Sheffield's Student Union Winter Craft fair. The day was busy and had a fabulous selection of designers. I received lots of compliments about my items which was very flattering.

To my utter suprise, I received a 'Best Dressed Stall Award'! I get to keep the lovely rosett and bottle of wine for my efforts! This made me very happy! You can see a few photos from the day just below.

I will be back with more to offer to those wonderful Sheffield folk next Sunday at the Millenium Galleries Reet Sweet Christmas Fair! Looking forward to it! Check out Reet Sweet's brand spanking new website too!

Sharing...

While I've been busy working, stripping wallpaper, printing, painting walls, cleaning, screaming at the sight of massive spiders and lots of other things, I've come across a lovely website I thought worth sharing. I found the link on the lovely and very useful Print & Pattern Blog, which I follow nearly everyday.

Ferm Living are a Danish company who produce a range of interior products from wallpaper and wall stickers, to shelves and candle holders. Taking a look at their shop and blog made me very excited and wish that i could afford there lovely things. Their graphic twist on design creates wonderful tools for a chic and modern lifestyle. My favourite piece is the house shaped wall shelf which looks fabulous teamed with the house print wallpaper! Definately my cuppa tea!

In other news, my range at the Bowery in Headingley is selling well, and new items are being introduced, my flat is coming alone nicely and one of my oldest and loveliest friends has had a beautiful baby boy! I created a lovely print to go in his nursery and bought lot of other cute things for baby Noah.

Here's a sneaky look at it and two t shirts I made for myself!

Soon be September

Well with August nearly gone and signs of autumn slowly arriving, my favourite seasons are fast kicking in. I love autumn and winter best of all. They are so inspiring and memorable and nostalgic. Summer is good too, but I like the atmosphere that accompanies the dark evenings and snowy weather.

So, news... I have my own website now. It's nothing fancy at the moment but has the basics and I like it! Visit Jil Made This officially now and also take a look at The Bowery's featured artists. I am now featured and my plush Owls are selling out! I will have a some images up soon!

A little break..

I have had a great month for crafts and sales, with a few commissions slipped in there too! After sheffield last month, I was also part of Indie Tracks festival (thanks to Amy) and then Reet Sweet's craft weekend last week. They were all successful with new fans emerging!

I am still beavering away and will have new items in my online shops in the next week, so keep your eyes peeled!

I am moving into a new flat in the next few week and have lots of decoration and sorting to do, so will be having a little break from craft fairs for a month or so. I will be posting with updates however and showing you some of the people's work that I love and who inspire me!

New stockist...

I am very pleased to announce I have a new supplier in Leeds! The Bowery, a vibrant cafe/gallery/gift shop/ studio are now stocking and selling a range of my products in their fantastic listtle gift shop, placed in Headingley. It was included in friday's opening exhibition and has taken pride of place in the window display! The range includes cards, badges and plush items, some exclusively made for The Bowery, so only availbale to buy there!

I am also part of a craft stall at the Derbyshire Indietracks music festival this coming weekend, where my lovely and very crafty friend Amy is selling on my behalf. So if you're down there take a look at our stall. It's a shame I couldn't be there! My thanks go to Amy!

I will be at the next Reet Sweet craft extravaganza next Saturday and Sunday the 6th and 7th of August! This give you plenty of chance to see what I've been making!

Recently I have received some lovely compliments via email and telephone from people who are fans of my work. This makes me very happy and to have people like my things so much is really encouraging. Michelle was one of these lovely people and I thought i'd give her a shout out as she also has cute things on her blog! Take a look!

I will leave with a photo of me and my sister's at Craft Candy taken from their gallery:

To infinity and beyond!

Wow, what a lovely weekend!

Craft Candy Summer Fair was a-mazing! What a great venue, lovely people and lots of happy, smiling buyers! This was one of my most successful fairs, with lots of positive feedback and even queues to see my crafts! My sister's both came to help out and after a stupidly early morning wake, the day flowed steadily and we even had some last minute buyers. There were other stunning stalls selling original and innovative crafts too! I was very pleased to be part of such a lovely and busy event held in the heart of Sheffield.

Sadly this was the last Craft Candy Fair.
However, do not despair - the super lovely Becki of Reet Sweet craft events has decided to step in and ensure that Craft Candy do not leave a big craft sized gap in Sheffield! Reet sweet events - mostly held in Leeds Corn exchange are like my second home. They've provided me with a place to regularly display and sell my wares and homely place to hang out on a dreary Sunday! So hearing that they are spreading their wings to over cities, is very welcoming news

If you haven't already, please take a look at the Reet Sweet blog, for updates and information on craft events in Leeds and beyond!

I will be updating this week with news on a new stockist in Leeds who'll have an exclusive range of products by yours truly! Watch this space!

There is a light that never goes out...

I am uber excited to finally be offered a new flat! I have waited patiently for over a year for the right place and now it has finally arrived! I will at long last have a place for all my lovely new and old household items! I will hopefully be in by the end of July!

In other news, I have a fantastic fair coming up in two weeks! It's Craft Candy's Summer Fair in Sheffield Millenium Galleries on Saturday 16th July. This amazing organisation has helped artists and crafts people from Sheffield and the surrounding area to become recognised. My first ever fair was one of their mini events last summer. The atmosphere is great and the venue is lovely, right next door to Sheffield's winter Garden's and just up the road from the train station. Check out the blog to see who will be there alonside me in what promises to be a smashing day out for art and craft lovers!

Here's some images of a few new things. I will be selling some new hair accessories in upcoming fairs as well as my usual treats!

Right Royal...

Here's a few photos from today's 'Right Royal Tea Party and Knees up' at the lovely Angel's Share in Chapel Allerton. Despite the wind we all had a lovely day and my stall looked pretty good. I'm really not into the royal family, but have to say it was quite exciting to watch and the atmosphere was ace! My sister and Mum helped out and we were sat by the screen with full view of the wedding.

Monday is another fair - 'Handmade 6' run by the lovely Amy at brudenell Social Club in Hyde Park, Leeds. Come down for bank holiday crafts and cake!

Friday, 22 April 2011

Sunshine already

Well April has been quite lovely hasn't it? Lots of sunshine, bank holidays and a cheery atmosphere. I have been busy drawing, printing and sewing new items. I've chosen some new bright fabrics and tried some new themes. As soon as they're complete, I'll post some photos and update my shops!

In the mean time, good news, you can now buy 'Jil Made This' items at the lovely Bird's Yard in Leeds city centre. They are now stocking a selection of my badges, magnets and plush items on the ground floor shop! If you're in Leeds and haven't been, take a look at the amazing things on offer, from vintage clothes, and jewellrey to printed t shirts and badges! Check out the website for more details, or email me at jil_smith@hotmail.com.

The West Yorkshire Playhouse Vintage and Craft Fair was great - I did really well and met some lovely people! it was lovely to see people really liking my items. I sold lots of handmade cards and badges! Don't worry there'll be more.
I have two more fairs confirmed:

Monday 2nd May - Handmade 6 @ Brudenell Social Club in Hyde Park, Leeds - two bank holidays in a row? No plans? Well come down to this quirky little venue in the heart of Hyde Park and eat cake whilst mooching around the fantastic craft stalls - the talented line up just gets better! Crafters this month include Memo, Amy Panda and the ladies of Fox Bunting.

Sunday 5th June - Reet Sweet Neo Craft Fair @ Leeds Corn exchange - great for those who love shopping on Sundays! The Corn Exchnage not only offers a beautiful building but unique shopping experience and although it seems I'm a regular fixture, this fair never gets boring. It's warm and welcoming both to stall holders and buyers and I thoroughly recommend you come down and see what on offer and have a cupcake and cup of tea while you're there! Once again there's lots of amazing talent. Take a look at the blog and come see me there too!

Enjoy your Easter weekend and the many bank holidays we have!
