Busy times

The Past two months have been very busy indeed! What is it you've been up to, I hear you ask? Let's find out:

As previously mentioned, this ever-growing department store, full of wonderful local retailers has bucket loads on offer. Food and drink, fashion, vintage, art, craft, health and well-being and much more all under one beautiful roof. I am now a part of the Handpicked Hall team, hired as a visual merchandiser. So, not only will I be selling my products there, I will also be working there and involved in various projects in Leeds, Skipton and Ripon, which is a dream opportunity.
The building which I used to go to on nights out years ago when it was a run down night club, has been completely transformed and now offers space for over 100 retailers, of all sizes and backgrounds. It has this amazing atmosphere amongst the traders and their customers, that I've not seen in any other department store. I guess, it isn't just a retail outlet, it is a community and without intending to sound too cheesy, it's a big happy family! A family of like-minded folk who all have the same goal - to get their products on to the high street with the help of the Handpicked Hall brand.

If you live in Yorkshire, it's definitely worth a visit. Come Christmas, this place will be brimming with unique retailers and exciting events. Take a look at our website to view what's going on and the retailers and events already in place - Handpicked Hall!

Inside Handpicked Hall you can find a gift shop - Our Handmade Collective. It's in the name really - a unique collection of small businesses run by business partners Claire and Nat. From tasty chocolate and cake pops, to Yorkshire embroidered cushions and stunning jewellery, it is the perfect place to find a unique hand-crafted gift...and Jil Made This! I now have a small collection of badges, cards, plush items and magnets available in Our handmade collective - all very exciting!
Each retailer has their own space and profile in this well presented and well advertised space. It really is a lovely little treasure trove, with friendly and very dedicated staff. They even have a bunch of free children's workshop over the summer to keep your little ones entertained and crafty!
All in all a lovely place to sell my work and work around!

Craft fairs:

In the past few months, as well as selling at Handpicked Hall, I have taken part in the Leeds Waterfront festival, run by Artsmix and Paperdoll Vintage and Craft Fair in Elsecar.

The Waterfont festival, held each year is definitely worth a visit, with plenty to do - craft and vintage stalls, live music, water activities and a feast of food and drink venues. We had a great day That is, apart from the pesky wind, which us traders weren't fond of.

Elsecar Heritage centre, located in the attractive village of Elsecar hosts numerous events including one of Yorkshire's biggest monthly antiques and collectables fairs. This is where Paperdoll events held a 60 stall craft and vintage fair last Sunday. I was given loads of compliments, had many people giving me positive feedback and asking about my products - it was lovely to see a great footfall and group of genuinely interested and supportive customers! I look forward to doing more events there!

You'll have see my illustrated portraits of dogs, cats, rabbits and deers available as prints, I'm sure. Well, I've had such a demand for people wanting their own pets drawn in clothes that my 'Animals with clothes' range will now also work on a commission basis. If you'd like an original Jil Made This portrait or any kind of commission, please contact me directly via my email address - jilmadethis@gmail.com!

I will post another entry next week as there's much more to talk about! In the mean time, you can find me on facebook, twitter, pinterest and instagram - typre in Jilmadethis and you're sure to find me!
